right now pg & e crews are at a house in san francisco after nearly one dozen people are rushed to the hospital for carbon monoxide exposure. good evening i'm heather holmes. >> and i'm ken wayne. at least 11 people have been sent to the hospital following suspected carbon monoxide

exposure. it happened in the bernal heights neighborhood. jade hernandez is live at the scene. >> reporter: we just heard from the battalion chief and told us many of those sent to the hospital have just been released. that's within the last few minutes. a gas representative is still checking all of the apartments in that duplex right behind me with the lights off. now the san francisco fire department says 11 people were transported to the hospital after the adults, there were eight adults, three children registered for high levels of carbon monoxide in their bloodstream. now a dispatcher received the call about 7:00 after hearing a

carbon monoxide alarm sounding. >> basically we got a knock on the door from our neighbors and told us there was a carbon monoxide leak in the house. when we got out there was a fire truck and a lot of ambulances up and down the street. >> reporter: now some symptoms of the carbon monoxide poisoning, some of the residents had headaches and scratchy throughouts. the battalion chief is common cause is a faulty heater or stove. right now they still don't know the cause of this leak tonight. they till tell me the family called 911 and was able to get out of the house. a pg &e official is checking to make sure there is no leak.

a police -- police arrested randy lamar sr. this morning, several hours after he shot and killed a richmond boy. the shooting happened early this morning. the man has not been released. he is charged with 10 felony counts including attempted murder and several sex offenses. a man is now in custody accused of killing a teenager

back in may. jacob marro was arrested after an off duty officer recognized jarro. a 23-year-old man was also wounded in that shooting. three people flying in nevado survived their plane crash. the plane was registered in new port beach. tonight we learned the identities of four people killed in a horrific crash this week on highway 50 in el dorado county. three of them members of one

oakland family. 38-year-old su,zhao. only the daughter survived. the rest of her family survived. patti lee reports on what investigators have found so far. >> reporter: chp investigators are trying to determine why a prius crossed the lanes to oncoming traffic. a placevville family was in the sierra mini van and four-year- old girl was killed. but four others including two- year-old infants were not badly injured. everyone inside the mini van was buckled up.

many say an injured deer spotted in the area might have explained why the car swerved. >> i think it could be a high possibility. >> reporter: there's no evidence to confirm that theory say officers. investigators will now analyze the computers in the car to determine how fast they were traveling when they collided. the highway where the collision occurred is curvy and the posted speed limit 65 miles per hour. >> this used to be 55, and we were trying to get it passed to where we would be lowered to 45 miles per hour. and for some reason they raised it. >> reporter: the chp says drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor. but the coroner may decide to perform an autopsy on the driver of the prius as part of the investigation. two people are recovering

after a destructive car crash this morning. a white ford explorer and mini van collided. but then the explorer crashed into the home and took down a power pole. that temporarily knocked out power to that neighborhood. the highway patrol responded to a single roll over accident early this morning. the car was found overturned. authorities say an off duty san jose police officer just happened to be near by and went to the crash scene to help. the chp has not released any information about injurys in the chp stepped up patrol this upcoming holiday weekend and made hundreds of drunk driving arrests. but as paul chambers reports, it wasn't just alcohol that proved to be dangerous. >> reporter: with thanksgiving

in your rear-view mirror, patrols are out in effect. this car burned beyond recognition was involved in a high speed collision along interstate 80 and crockett. you can see parts of northbound 101 looked like a parking lot. just before 8:30 saturday night a woman was killed on the freeway stopping traffic for more than two hours. >> it's still under investigation at this time and that's one of those incidents where a pedestrian find themselves on the freeway, we don't know why. >> reporter: chp says in more than 50% of their vehicle related accidents people were not wearing seat belts. investigators say that appears to have been the case in palo alto accident that killed two sisters. four of the family members were also in the vehicle and are expected to survive. but officers say many many cases although people do live it comes at a cost. with others left with serious to critical injuries. >> they are not counted in a statistic some where as far as fatalities is concerned.

it's still a major part of our focus is that we prevent major injury accidents. >> reporter: the way you can help is as simple as simple as dialing 911. in berkeley, i'm paul chambers, ktvu channel 2 news. retailers are now reporting record sales for holiday shopping this weekend. according to the national retail federation, shopping is up 15% from last year. shoppers spent more an average of $124. being able to buy on thanksgiving day is now key. >> last year 24% of holiday shoppers that went out over the entire weekend were out on thanksgiving by midnight. i think the numbers are going to show that this year we did better than that. >> reporter: internet shopping broke a record as well.

online sales on black friday topped $1 billion for the first time. that optimism extends for predictions for tomorrow, cyber monday. shoppers are expected to spend $1.5 million. besides the office computer for boosting online sales, the i -- tablets and smart phones are credited. fog created a problem for travelers heading home. the airport's duty manager explained at one point there was a two hour delay for some passengers. >> we can have 60 aircraft arrive an hour without any problem. but when the fog comes in we go if we can go down as low as 30 or 28 flights an hour. fortunately by 2:00. the fog advisory had been lifted and allowed for many

oakland police tonight are trying to quail a spike in gun violence. four people have been shot and killed in just the past 24 hours. >> reporter: gunfire, flashing lights and homicide investigators that's what folks in this alan dale in east oakland woke up to just about 6:00 this morning. >> seemed like a lot of shots. i don't know probably 15, at least maybe 20. >> reporter: neighbor adam po and his 2-year-old daughter had been a sleep a few houses away. >> i first checked my daughter to see if she was okay.

>> reporter: police are unable to say if the two women who lived near by lived in the area and what the motive may have been. police say they are investigating whether domestic violence was to blame. saturday afternoon a young man was gunned down here on the street. leslie phillips wanted to light candles to remember the victim. >> that boy was 19 years old,. >> reporter: she runs a group that teaches people how to treat trauma. she rushed over yesterday trying to help but it was too late. >> when we were here yesterday, there were about 30 people standing around watching and they didn't know what to do. >> reporter: she's one of many fed up with the violence. four homicides in less than 24 hours this holiday weekend. >> it's very heartbreaking, i wish there were none.

>> reporter: in oakland, cara liu. >> reporter: more details now on the violence, the oakland tribune reports that the two shooting deaths this morning bring the total number of homicides this year in oakland to 115. that's five more than last year when there were 110 homicides. the all time high for homicides was 175. the s.w.a.t. team surrounded a home in the mountain view area. richard johnson locked himself inside the apartment on alice avenue after he hit his girlfriend. the girlfriend managed to get out but police say johnson remained hold up with a shotgun for seven hours before he finally surrendered. the search for a 16-year- old boy who was swept out to see in humble county has ended. the boy was looking for his dog yesterday and the water at big lagoon. his father went in after his

son. when the son emerged from the water both he and the mother went in to find the father. both parents died. and today the coast guard called off the search for the boy. the dog survived. a preliminary hearing is set to get under way tomorrow in san francisco for a man accused of impersonating a doctor. 49-year-old carlos guzman garza ran an illegal doctors office. a man suspected of robbing a bank is due in court tomorrow. we were the first to bring you the story of deputy phillip chun. chun is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow afternoon he faces robbery and second degree burglary charges.

a preliminary hearing is scheduled for a man accused of vandalizing a bus on the night of the giant's win. hudson has pleaded not guilty to those charges. he remains in lieu of bail. he is one of several suspects implicated. prop eight is releasing a new ad hoping to press the lawmakers. actor morgan freeman narrates the ad. the ad was paid for by the human rights campaign. it comes ahead of a closed door conference this week where the justices are expected to consider which if any cases to take up the challenge the 1996 defensive marriage act. in washington the looming

a fight between two teenager in vallejo escalated to gunfire. the father of one of those teenager is now behind bars. >> reporter: the fighting was so loud, it woke her up. >> i kept hearing over and over, i'm going to put you to sleep. i'm going to put you to sleep. at that point i knew it was serious. >> the 19-year-old phoned his

father to come pick him up. at that point is apparently when the father confronted the 17-year-old. >> you could see a car pull up and they were still arguing and, he said again i'm going to put you to sleep. and all you heard was pow, pow, pow, pow, pow. >> reporter: police say 44-year- old randy williams father of the older teen shot the younger one several times from his car. police apprehended williams some six hours later at his house a few miles away. >> we did surround the house, we called in to him and asked him to step outside. he did cooperate and was taken into custody without incident. >> about 4:00 i heard the mother crying and that's when i came out. >> reporter: neighbors say the victim's family came to the scene from richmond where he was from. >> the thing that's upsetting is it wasn't the kids, it was the father that came here and did it. >> reporter: and witnesses say the teenager seemed to be arguing over a girl. >> we heard this woman screaming or this girl

screaming, i know you're jealous. i didn't know you were this jealous. >> reporter: randy williams face as murder charge. neighbors say they ran to try to help the 17-year-old in the street. neighbors say they ran to the scene but there was nothing they could do. authorities have identified a bay area cyclist killed in a crash this weekend in the sierra. 45-year-old robert copeland jr. was a resident of los gatos. copeland died on saturday in truckee. they were looking for witnesses to the crash. the san francisco police department will start accepting job applications tomorrow for entry level officers. eligible applicants must be 21 years old, a u.s. citizen, have a valid california driver's license and a high school diploma or equivalent. there's no maximum age limit. the application period will end friday december 7th. the starting saturday for a san francisco police officer is $88,000 a year. car enthusiasts got a chance this weekend in san

a south bay charity says it will open its cold weather shelter program tomorrow. ehc line fielders runs three shelters at the national guard armories. the program provides 275 emergency beds some of them allocated for veterans and people previously living in homeless encampment. it's annual program serves almost 3,000 people each year. and the timing of this really is good because our weather is changing. let's check in now with our meteorologist mark tamayo. and mark those temperatures have already dropped

significantly. >> already we're talking about 40s. here's a look at some of the current numbers out there. san jose checking in 49 degrees. reports of fog already out toward santa rosa. the oakland airport, san jose and also out toward the fairfield area as well. in addition to the cold temperatures overnight we're tracking a major weather change with more storms developing out here in the pacific. first one you can pick out, there's the first circulation. this will be a factor as we head into wednesday morning. just in time for the wednesday morning commute. as far as overnight lows it'll be cool out there. showing you the upper 30s to 40s and areas of fog. not only in some of the inland spots but right around bay as well. santa rosa 39 degrees to start out the day. livermore right around 40 degrees. we have been tracking a few storms this month but get ready over the next few days a significant weather pattern change beginning wednesday. monday, tuesday will be dry. but beginning wednesday,

thursday, friday. periods of heavy rain, gusty winds and building surf. so we're tracking multiple storms out there in the pacific. as for right now high pressure still in command of our weather so areas of morning fog to start out your monday morning. skies becoming partly sunny. tuesday the key change we're going to thicken the cloud showers. we can pick out an area of heavy rain. you can count on multiple storms, periods of heavy rain and it's a good idea to get ready for power outages. because high winds will be coupled with areas of rain. not only the inland spots but also coast side and right around the bay. tuesday increasing high clouds and look what happens into wednesday. just in time for the wednesday morning commute. moderate to heavy rain pushing in across the bay area and in advance of these winds increase out of the south could be

approaching 40 to 45 miles per hour. at least the winds gusts. by wednesday afternoon. some what of a break but then there's some more activity developing and that could be translated to some more rain by thursday. temperatures for tomorrow, upper 50s to the low to mid- 60s. so afternoon highs are going to cool things off just a little bit from tonight's reading. partly cloudy skies are going to warm you up to 63. here is a look ahead, your five day forecast. you will notice this it is very active. increasing clouds tuesday increasing winds as well. rain likely into friday and heather and ken more rain clouds with your weekend always in view for saturday and into sunday. there's still quite a bit of uncertainty with the exact rainfall amounts. a good range for the next five to seven days we could have two to 5-inches of rain. heaviest will be in the north bay. so we have to watch that for the next week.

the defense was the real star today but most of the postgame was all about kapernick. he completes 16 of 29 passes, one interception and also ran for 26 yards in a very tough venue. >> it makes you that much more confident especially when you get the win against two very tough teams. >> very impressed. collin is a play maker. he makes the game so much more exciting. his ability, some of the things that he can do as a quarterback. i mean it's just, it's just a privilege to have him you know on board as one of the quarterbacks. not taking nothing from alex. it's really unique that you have those guys because alex has been in it for a while. and kapernick has been able to learn from alex and move forward. >> it's sad. because you feel sad for alex.
